CARVE
cdak, made interactive.
CARVE takes the world of cdak, a 4 kilobyte intro by unc of Quite and Orange, and makes it something you can steer and render. Every frame is a function of the preset and the loop position, so every clip closes on itself without a seam.
One preset file drives the browser viewer, the headless 4K renderer and the screensaver. Tune a look by eye in your browser, then render it overnight.
What it does
- Lattice, moon and corridor worlds
- Flythrough, orbit and stargate camera rigs
- Seamless loops verified frame for frame
- 4K ProRes 422 HQ, H.264 and PNG output
- Headless command-line rendering
- Audio-reactive: bass, kick and highs drive any parameter
It runs in your browser.

cdak is a 4 kilobyte intro by unc of Quite and Orange. It took first place at Chaos Constructions 2010 and Scene.org named it the best 4k of the year. Its authors released the shader source, and CARVE grows from that code: the world is theirs, and CARVE makes it playable and renderable.
Free and open source.
